The first of two Addressing Concerns episodes begin with Ava likely having to smoke cigarettes outside other than outside her door, but smoking outside her door is all she knows. Worse is Ava ends up blowing $3000 to pay overdue bills, food, and groceries. Meanwhile, Caprice and Ella are defending Ava’s actions as always.

In the episode, since a United States HUD mandate that prohibited smoking cigarettes inside their homes went into effect ono August 1, 2018, Ava has basically vaped inside her home and smoking cigarettes outside her door outdoors since March 4, 2017. However, she never had a problem with where outside she could smoke a cigarette until she moved from Black Pine Flats to Golfview and presumably, someone has an issue that has caused her problems as Ava cannot find anywhere else outside to smoke due to her semi-crippling injury and a resolution was not offered, but rather a lease violation.

Caprice and Ella react badly to the lease violation and with Caprice hissing and Ella admitting to barking at the groundskeeper, presumably that person who one day saw Ava was having a bad day and apparently “took it out” on her thus the lease violation rather than work with Ava. Caprice admits she has hissed at the groundskeeper 14 times (though Caprice is seen hissing five times) so far.

A couple of weeks pass by and Ava quietly gets her final once a semester bonus and pays some much-needed bills that were overdue as well as one deal Ava could not pass up. The needs of Ava, Breeanna, Caprice, Ella, Lyssa, and Sierra have been growing as fast as inflation. Long story short–Ava is going to explain a $1000 grocery bill to Breeanna and much less Caprice and Ella, or even Lyssa and Sierra as the episode ends.
